Alualu has surgery, Potroast in training, Williams and Abraham to test free agency, Mincey and Jags enter negotiations and more...

Tyson Alualu has been playing hurt the past two seasons. That guy is one tough SoB playing with a torn PCL has to be painful yet he did it, FOR TWO FULL SEASONS. He recently had surgery to clean up the damage and I can't wait to what he can do once he's at 100%. It would seem GM Gene and Jeremy Mincey aka @MrMince94 have started the contract negotiations and expect that it will be a long term deal somewhere in the Kampman range (4 yrs 24mil)   Mincey was a dominate force racking up a team high 8 sacks. He's proved that he has what it takes to lead our defensive line.

The scounting combine is currently underway. While all eyes will be on Andrew Luck and RGIII and where they will land, the Jaguars priorities will be on the WRs like Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd. Both have breakout speed and are at least 6'1 or taller something the Jags are currently lacking in receivers. I often wondered why GM Gene and Del Rio did not go after some taller guys either in free agency or draft wise.

Coach Mularkey has been quoted as stating that the returning vets will have a clean slate when the first OTA's take place in April. These workout sessions will focus mainly on formation drills and issuing of new play books as he works with the offensive staff to get to together the new offensive scheme the Jaguars will be using. He also said that Jaguars starting QB will be working with a private QB coach until April when teams are allowed to have contact with players again. I once stated to some friends that Mularkey, OC Bartkowski, QB Coach Greg Olson and WR Coach Jerry Sullivan need to round up the entire Jags receiving corps and Blaine Gabbert and just live together for the summer. Marcedes Lewis in particular who's stats diminished by almost half this past season needs to just work with Gabbert so they can get their timing down.

It looks like DE's Mario Williams and John Abraham are going to hit the open market when free agency starts on March 13. Both have targets on their backs as potential replacements for Matt Roth or Aaron Kampman (depending on how his rehab progresses)

I've been following Terrence "Potroast" Knighton on Twitter to see how the progress on his off season is going and was very surprised when he followed me back. It looks like he is determined to be in the best shape of his career as this will be a contract season for him coming up. Gene Smith said that the ball is in his court this season. Depending on how he reports to camp and of course he he plays Knighton could be in for a huge payday next year.
