Jacksonville Jaguars DT Terrance "Potroast" Knighton underwent eye surgery today after an injury was received in an "incident" early this morning. Tania Ganguli of Jacksonville.com reports that the injury was sustained at Pure night club.
The incident in question took place in the early Easter Sunday morning. Knighton under went eye surgery at Baptist Hospital today. Baptist Eye Institute has one of the best ophthalmology departments in the state if not the country so I gather he was under the best of care. He was released this evening and is recovering at home.
The injury in itself may place in danger Knighton's season and career which is currently in the final year of his rookie contract. Earlier this year Knighton was told by Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith that if he took care of himself this off season the the Jaguars would take care of him. Known as "Potroast" in the locker room and by fans Knighton has the ability to be a pro bowl caliber defensive tackle. Action News Jax's Brent Martineau said on tonight's broadcast that recovery will take a long time, longer than initially anticipated. Many Jaguars fans and players including this years franchise tagged player Josh Scobee sent their thoughts and prayers to "Potroast" for a speedy recovery. Knighton has always been a friendly guy when it comes to the fans and has a big heart. We all hope that his recovery is speedy and promising as he has a bright future ahead of him.
