Jags release Kampman after two seasons

Per @JaguarsInsider the Jags have parted ways with Aaron Kampman after two seasons. The defensive end's  release comes after two injury plagued seasons dealing with torn ACLs. This release frees up some cap space. Kampman's first season started out great and he racked up 4 sacks before tearing an ACL in practice in 2010. He had surgery and returned late in the 2011 season before being sidelined again with an injury dealing with his knees. He had at least 3 knee repair surgeries while with the Jaguars. He was a leader in the locker room and a good veteran presence on the field. He never really rebounded from his last knee injury playing only in 3 games last season. Kampman was due $10 million over the next two years.

There was a lot of speculation as to if Kampman would survive cuts during preseason but his release now means the Jags did not feel confident enough in letting Kampman earn a spot by working for it in off season.
