Fred Taylor will be inducted into the Pride of the Jaguars

In a move that all of Jag Nation will back, the Jaguars held a press conference in where they announced that they plan to induct the Jaguars all time leading rusher Fred Taylor into the Pride of the Jaguars. This is a well deserved honor for Taylor who was with the Jaguars from 1998-2008. Taylor then played two seasons with the New England Patriots before signing a ceremonial one day contract with the Jaguars so he could retire with the team he loves most. Taylor finished his career with 11,695 rushing yards on 2,354 attempts. He scored 66 rushing touchdowns in his career. Taylor only made it to the Pro Bowl once in his career. Humble and always willing to give it his all when on the field he won the Fed Ex Ground player of the year in 2007. When the Jaguars drafted Maurice Jones-Drew in 2006 Fred made it his job to mentor him into being great running back which has paid off for MJD as he was the 2011 rushing champion for the league.

At the press conference Taylor was flanked on both sides by Tony Boselli and Gene Smith. Both men spoke highly of Fred and praised both his work ethic and his humbleness on and off the field. Boselli described Taylor as "the greatest back in the history of the Jaguars" and rightly so. Taylor proved that when there was work to be done he could be depended on. One thing about Fred was he was patient when he ran the ball. He waited for his blocks to develop and took advantage of the holes that were made. Here is some of the best runs that Taylor had in his career in a video that I found on You Tube:

Since his retirement Fred has still been involved with the team. He is very involved with the Team Teal efforts and has recently joined the Jaguars Caravan on trips to other cities in the area to help spread the Jaguars fame. Taylor also took time to speak with the current rookies and provided advice on how life in the NFL can be. He also took some time to speak with Justin Blackmon about his recent arrest. Taylor said that conversation in particular ended with good results and he knows that Blackmon understands his mistake.and will take responsibility for his actions.

Fred Taylor is a great man. This honor which will officially take place in November when the Jags play the Bengals is just the first step to getting the NFL Hall of Fame.
