I took a nap...I wake up and see Peyton Manning will be released! Let the circus begin...

So after work today I decided the world we get along fine without me for an hour...In that time Super Tuesday was going on for the Republican Presidential candidates, I was in la la land having a nice dream, then as I wake up and check FB I see the Breaking News Icon and there it is..."Sources tell ESPN that Colts will release Peyton Manning Wednesday."

The time of the release of Manning will come one day before he was to receive a 28 million dollar bonus from the Colts. Manning received a new contract from the Colts in 2011 worth 90 million dollars over 5 years. A neck injury kept Manning sidelined for the entire 2011 season and speculation began about what would happen as it got closer to March 8th the day the bonus was to kick in. Manning under went multiple surgeries on his neck during the off season and began his rehab during the regular season. A few days ago video surfaced on You Tube of Manning throwing at Duke University but that obviously was not enough to convince Jim Irsay (owner of the Colts) that he would be ready by next season. The Colts, who have the first pick of the draft will now put their faith in the hands of one Andrew Luck.

Let me say this, as much as I don't like Manning because he's been a big part of the Jaguars/Colts rivalry since 1998 I have to say I respect him. Manning is a great player and the AFC South will not be the same with him gone. We caught a glimpse of how things will be when he sat out the entire season with his neck injury, but now its real. What this means for the Jaguars is an opportunity to take over the division. Its an opportunity for Blaine Gabbert and company to go about business as usual and establish a dynasty. For so many seasons the Colts have always won this division (7 times to Jaguars 2) and it was on the arm and leadership of Manning. Now is the time to establish a new KING OF THE SOUTH. The Jaguars need to look at this as an opportunity to say WE ARE HERE AND WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

There will be some Jags fans that will say lets go after Manning. If you are that fan I ask you to come back to reality. Manning is not coming here. Even though he will be free to sign with any team he chooses as soon as his release is official Manning is not going to be a Jaguars priority. Most likely landing spots include Washington, Miami, Arizona or New York (Jets). Why? Because those teams need a QB. We don't, we have Gabbert we'll be fine.
